Play online with friends (and against bots)

DropDice is made to bring back the feel of a game night, even when everyone is at home. No account, no app: everything happens in the browser, on computer, tablet or phone. Here is how to start a game in under a minute.

1. Choose your nickname and color

On the home page, type a nickname (12 characters at most) and choose a color for your pawn. Nothing else to fill in: no email, no password. Your browser remembers your nickname for next time.

2. Create a private room

Click the game, for example Magnat, then "Private" under "Create a game". You land in your room, where you are the host (the crown next to your name). A private room isn't listed anywhere: only people with the code or the link can get in.

3. Invite your friends

The "Invite your friends" panel shows the room code, five letters long, and its link. Click "Copy" and paste the link into your group chat, or just read out the code. Your friends open the link, choose their nickname, and they're in.

Or join a public game

No friends around tonight? In the game window, the "Join a public game" list shows the rooms open to everyone that are still waiting for players. You can also create your own public game: anyone can join it from the home page.

Host settings

Before starting the game, the host sets up the room. Other players can see the settings, but only the host can change them.

Add bots

Not enough people? The host clicks "+ Add a bot" to fill the table. Each bot has its own level, which the host can change:

Bots play on the server, with a short pause before each action so you can see what they do. You can even play alone against bots to practise.

Room chat

Every room has its own chat, to talk, negotiate and tease. To keep it friendly:

The Site rules explain what is and isn't allowed.

Connection dropped? Don't panic

If your connection drops, you have one minute to get back to your seat. The other players can give you one more minute per click, up to 10 minutes. And if a player stops playing altogether, the others can vote to kick them, so the game goes on.

On phones too

The board, the chat and the buttons adapt to the screen. One friend on a computer, another on a phone: everyone plays in the same room, with nothing to install.
